Great Gargant

This ugly brute was part of an Ebay job lot. Looking at the photograph in the auction details I could see what looked like the parts of a Gargant of some kind in with the various other bits and bobs that made up the lot. Taking the chance that all the bits were there I paid the princely sum of 10 earth pounds and came away with a mint condition Great Gargant and lots of other interesting bits besides.

Assembling the beast was made easy by the fact that I didn't have to strip any old glue or paint from him - I guess the previous owner never got round to this chap. Being my first attempt at a large epic model I based him fairly simply on a round titan base covered in a watered down PVA and dipped in fine modelling sand.

A little bit of green-stuff was involved in filling in some gaps between the parts of the super-structure and I couldn't resist mounting a couple of boyz and a grot on the decking at the back. The warlord in residence can be seen on top of the head - probably exhorting the warband to even greater feats of arms

Left Side Right Side
Painting, as always for me, begins with undercoating everything black using GW spray primer. Next comes dry-brushing with tin-bitz, bolt-gun metal and sometimes a spot of one brown or another if its going to be a dirty model rather than a shiny new looking one.

For the most part the painting is done on this fellow, There is still some work to be done to the crew figures and the warlord, but that will be as and when. No doubt this page will be updated to reflect any changes that happen.
