I rescued this old campaigner from Ebay. He arrived unpainted with the legs assembled and glued to the base and the head glued to the body. A relaxing evening spent in a bath of nail polish remover freed all those stiff joints and allowed me to dissassemble him. |
I wanted to keep the base with void sheild indicator intact for re-use at the basing stage but knew I also wanted to pose the titan in a custom fashion. This meant carefully cutting away the feet and legs so I could soak them in the nail polish remover as well. |
Once the reaver had been cleaned of old glue, mold lines and flashing it was time to think about re-basing. To begin with I covered over the holes I'd left in the void sheild base when removing the legs. Next I carefully bent the titans legs into their new striding pose and fixed the feet back to the base to mark the eventual attachment point for the legs. |
After fixing the foot placement I glued on two sections of ruined wall and built up the surface of the base with fine grade milliput to which I added a few clusters of boulders using some of the bigger chunks found in GW's fine modelling sand. Next the legs were fixed in place. Once the legs were fixed I covered the base in watered down PVA and dunked the whole thing in fine modelling sand.
The body was assembled seperatly and a banner was made from plasticard and thin plastic rod. This was then fixed under the plasma gun and carefully bent into shape. The whole thing was undercoated in one go by spraying with GW black spray paint. The body was left unattached till after everything had been painted. There is still some work to do one the base and the banner for this model, but aside from that I think it is pretty much done. |
